to what might appear in North American university texts) and practical (containing
everyday English words and phrases that the learner might come across) in nature.

The main idea describes what a passage is mainly about. This workbook has

- Detail:
Details are specific facts from the reading passage. This workbook has questions that
will test the ability to identify specific facts from a passage.
- Vocabulary:
The vocabulary questions in this workbook will help learners practice
the approach of increasing vocabulary without a dictionary by using the
context of surrounding words.
- Inferences: An inference is the act of making a conclusion
based on factual information. This workbook provides examples and questions
to help learners master the ability to make inferences.
- Pronouns:
Pronouns replace repeated nouns in a sentence. This workbook will test the
ability to identify what the pronoun in a sentence is replacing.
- Except/Not:
In this type of question, all the answers are right except for one. The student must choose the response
that does NOT answer the question.
