The Learn & Play Listening and Spelling Set was developed in order to provide
children with a diverse and engaging way to practice and test their spelling
skills. The set includes the Learn & Play Listening and Spelling Workbook
as a companion to English Practice Listening and Spelling.
The Learn & Play Listening and Spelling Workbook is broken up into character
and subject sections, and includes activities for the beginning to advanced speller.
The workbook also includes a listening component ensuring students have their
spelling words modeled for them by native English speakers, who provide correct
pronunciation. The workbook is in Adobe PDF format, allowing the student to
work directly on screen or to print out a portable paper copy. The following
are the kinds of activities you will find in this workbook:
- Listening to and identifying correctly spelled, level- appropriate words.
- Listening to and discriminating between similar- sounding words.
- Using and creating spelling patterns such as word families and rhyming
words.
- Placing words in alphabetical order.
- Word searches and word scrambles.
- A spelling test to assess progress.
- Appendices that include spelling rules, study tips, and websites for further
study and practice.
English Practice Listening and Spelling will reinforce the skills learned in
the workbook through challenging and interactive games, giving the student twice
the practice with essential listening and spelling skills!
